FULL WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

SATURDAY, JUNE 29TH:
1PM in the Blackbox - Who Will Speak for You When You Can’t: Queer Healthcare and End-of-Life Planning: This workshop will be run by a queer healthcare professional who primarily works in end-of-life care. The workshop will consist of a brief presentation on how healthcare/end-of life planning works in Georgia, why it’s important for queer people to have legal protection (e.g. not wanting bio family involved in care, non-legally recognized relationships), and then assisting attendees with filling out their own advance directives.

1PM on the MainStage - Comedy/Standup Work Shop: A workshop geared explicitly towards queer people to workshop any standup or comedic materials. The event will be formatted for individuals to perform a 5-minute set and receive 3-5 minutes of feedback from the audience.

2PM in the Blackbox - “We’re A.I.G.H.T. - Mental Health in the Black Queer Community. This workshop will address the principles of “We’re A.I.G.H.T.” which focuses on Action, Integrity, Grace, Health, and Transparency as a therapeutic and relational tool. I’ll present the information, share about the community building through my podcast, and hold space for a group forum on mental health with questions for processing in large and small groups depending on the number of participants. Folks may leave will a free copy of a journal (pending grant money) that incorporates journal prompts derived from black feminist theory and black queer theory. (FOR BLACK QUEER & TRANS PEOPLE ONLY.)

2PM on the MainStage - Level Up Your Consent Practice: Beyond the Binary: We’ve come a long way from “no means no” to “yes means yes” consent, but don’t stop there! In this workshop, we’ll deconstruct binary enthusiastic consent, and you’ll be guided to map your experiences onto your own Yes-To-No Spectrum (concept by Consent Wizardry). We’ll also cover body language and spoken communication, and you’ll be invited to participate in partnered, somatic skill-building exercises based loosely on the Wheel of Consent by Dr. Betty Martin. These skills will help you deepen your consent practice to both reduce harm and build mutually caring, joyful relationships.

3:30PM in the Blackbox - Sound Meditation Session: Sound meditation is a type of meditative practice that involves sitting or lying down and listening to calming sounds, such as singing bowls and other musical instruments. The idea is that the sounds will help to calm the mind, deepen your spiritual practice, relax your nervous system, and support your body in discharging trauma and chronic stress from your body. Be sure to bring a yoga mat and blanket or pillow!

3:30PM on the MainStage - Poetry & Memory: This workshop explores how writers can use the memory in a multitude of ways that are not directly through chronological memory. The use of imagination, faux memories, pictures, music, etc. that are surrounded around us are puzzle pieces of memories that trigger our recollection; therefore, if a memory can be formed through stimuli (i.e., experience through the five senses), then it is a possibility to create poetry with memories that are not solely based on chronological events (i.e., trauma, childhood, etc.).

5PM in the Blackbox - Why Be A Gender When You Could Be Agender: Being agender in the queer community can be hard. often times folks talk about things as masc or femme and leave no space for those of us who just are. join for a discussion about how we can continue to expand the vocabulary of the queer community so as not to exclude those of us who do not see ourselves as either physically, mentally/emotionally, or spiritually.

SUNDAY, JUNE 30TH:
1PM in the Blackbox - Sexual Queer Minds:
This workshop is a safe and inclusive sex-positive space presented by two Black queers dedicated to exploring the intersections of sexual and mental health within BIPOC LGBTQ+ communities.Through dialogue, education, and interactive activities, participants will delve into topics such as intersectionality, sexual health, mental well-being, and effective communication. : Yo, welcome to the spot where Poly, Queer, and Kinky vibes aren’t just side dishes—they’re the main course! We get it, these worlds can bump into each other like guests at a house party, sometimes it's smooth, sometimes it’s complex. Folks often find it tricky to navigate the spaces where these identities mingle and merge. That’s where our workshop steps in, offering a playbook on how to thrive when these worlds collide. We're gonna dive deep into the unique hurdles and must-have skills needed to rock in relationships where polyamory, queerness, and kink intersect. It’s all about getting you as cozy with these parts of yourself as you are with your go-to meal combo.
